# How to read a Colorado liquor license record

> License types and permits, expiration and renewal, and how compliance checks are matched.

## How to read these records

### The license

One record per license number. Takeout, delivery and storage permits carry the number of the license they depend
on and are shown on the same record. “(city)” or “(county)” says which local authority licenses the business
alongside the state.

### Expiration and renewal

The expiration date is the state file's. “Renewal received” means the Division has the renewal and is processing
it or waiting for the fee. A license listed as expired may still be valid while a renewal filed in time is pending
with the local authority — the state says so itself.

### Compliance checks

In a compliance check, an underage person working with the Division or a police department tries to buy alcohol.
“Pass” means the sale was refused; “Fail” means it was made. The state's file gives a business name and an address
but no license number. This site shows a check on a record only when the address points to a single license
*and* the name agrees. A record without checks is not a record never checked: the check may simply not have
matched. A failed check is one event on one day; what followed is not in the file.

### What is not here

Owners and associated persons, special event and festival permits, violations and penalties, and local records.

AI labs pay businesses to record first-person video of everyday hands-on work — filmed by their own staff with a
